How hard can it be?

So yesterday after I posted about wanting to get out and exercise, I decided to put my words into action.  There's really no sense in talking about wanting to do better and then not even making an effort to head in that direction.  After lunch, I got the girls ready to go out for a walk.  Alyssa decided she wanted to take her baby and push it down the street in it's stroller.  At first I told her no.  It wasn't that I was trying to be a mean Mama, I just could already see what was going to happen.  We've taken her baby stroller out before and she's gotten tired of pushing it in the first five minutes.  I decided to be nice and let her give it a try again.  I even got her to agree that she wouldn't complain about the stroller the entire time we were out.

Well, wouldn't you know...we weren't even six houses down and Alyssa started screaming and crying.  She complained that the stroller was too hard to push and decided she'd just stand there and continue to cry.  I reminded her of what she had promised me, but do you think that mattered?  Nope.  I decided that we would just continue on our walk since we were already out and I was determined to get some kind of exercise.  Well, we only lasted all of 15 minutes and Alyssa cried the entire way home while making hardly any effort to push her stroller.  I ended up having to throw her baby stroller on top of the canopy of Audrey's stroller, just so we could make it home.  That was Day One of exercising.

Day Two of exercising came today when, after lunch again, I got the girls ready to go and we headed out with Audrey in the stroller again. This time Alyssa decided she wanted to ride her bike.  I thought to myself, for sure today would be better.  What could go wrong?  I decided to take my camera with me just in case I decided to take a few pics of the girls.

Well, wouldn't you know, we hadn't made it very far and again, Alyssa started complaining that her bike was too hard to petal.  I told her she needed to keep trying and not give up so easily.  We ended up making it down to the other side of our complex with me pushing her almost the entire way while at the same time pushing Audrey in her stroller!  When we got down to the end of the street, we stopped to take a little break.  Here's a pic that Alyssa took of us...

And here is Audrey smiling for the camera...

After we took our little break, I decided to let Alyssa push Audrey home and guess what I did?  You guessed it...I pushed Alyssa's bike all the way home!  You can tell how happy Alyssa looked when she didn't have to ride her bike anymore!

I just can't believe how difficult these last two days have been!  It's almost comical.  All I know is for tomorrow's walk, the only thing Alyssa will be doing is walking on her own two feet and that's it.  No stroller, no bike, nothing!

Seriously...why in the world is it so hard to just go on one simple walk???

Oh dear! I guess that's part of the "joy" of being a mommy, right? Hope today goes better for you!

That's not good! Have you seen the wagons that you can pull them in? Do you think she'd like to ride in that?

Haha! Well, at least you got double the exercise having to push everything down the street. LOL! My girls are the same exact way! Either they have to ride in the wagon or we won't make it even two houses down! And that wagon is heavy to pull down the street!

Around here though, you'll get carried off by the mosquitoes if you try to take a walk right now. And it's still super hot, in the low 90's. ugh!

Veronica- you are a NICE mommy, I would have either made her leave her stoller there or taken it home and thrown it away!! HA! you bring it, you carry it! (or push!!)

Don't get discouraged. Keep walking. You are so pretty and the girls are adorable. The weather looks awesome too. It is freezing here. 48 this morning. Yikes.

Oh yes they always wanna take the bike until they get halfway around the block and want you to push it. Sounds very familiar :)

Good for you for keeping at it.
Even with all the challenges.

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

This is my life "diet" verse. I've struggle with diet and exercise my whole life and this verse encourages me to keep at it and not to give up.

Keep at it, you will reap a harvest.

Blessings

Ok, this is really anceint history since I was taking walks with my three girls,...but the same things used to happen. I usually ended up carrying the youngest daughter and pushing the tricycle. (smile)

So, I can totally remember how the scenerio goes!

But I am proud of you for trying. It will work out one of these days.

Maybe you could take some brief walks in the evenings after dinner either with your hubby and the girls, or have them stay with him while you take a quick brisk walk.

Love, Linda
