Semi-Computerless Weekend

This weekend I really tried my best to stay off the computer. For those of you who know me really well, you know I have serious problems with staying away from the computer, so this was a big deal for me. Anyhow...I did pretty good this weekend and was so excited today to find all the people who've entered into my "California Giveaway." Sorry to those of you who thought I was actually giving away a trip to California, LOL!

So, I thought about my giveaway a little more over the weekend and decided to change two things about the giveaway. The first thing...I will be adding a bottle of this good stuff along with the other three items I posted about on Friday.

It's called Susie Q's Santa Maria Style Seasoning. I would not be sharing the all the goodness of where I'm from if I didn't include some of this yummy seasoning. The winner will actually be getting a smaller bottle of this, but since I haven't bought it yet, I just took a quick picture of the one I personally own. This seasoning is something that EVERYONE uses here. I honestly do not cook without it...it's that good. It's basically a blend of salt, pepper, garlic and parsley. I put it in everything I cook from tacos, to spaghetti, to roasts, to BBQ. It really adds some great flavor to whatever you're cooking, so...to whoever wins this giveaway, I will be interested to see what you think about it too!

Secondly, I will be changing the deadline of the giveaway to midnight my time tonight. That way, I'll be able to post the winner of the giveaway in tomorrow's post. Hope that's okay with everyone!

-----------------------------------------------------
The weather was finally nice yesterday after a few weeks of it feeling like it was still winter time. It was just beautiful out yesterday...not too hot or too cold. I know a lot of you have been experiencing scorching heat waves in other parts of the country. We've been so blessed not have to deal with that quite yet.

Yesterday morning, the girls and I made it to church without my Hubby. He had another commitment to take care of, so he wasn't able to make it to church. I know I haven't mentioned church much lately, but we are still attending the same church we've been trying out for the last few months. It's called Church for Life, and if anyone's interested in checking out the website to see what it's about, you can go here. What's nice is that you can download the sermon if you'd like to hear it and weren't able to be there.

Which leads me to the next topic. Yesterday was the first day in four years since I've gotten to actually listen to a sermon in church. We stopped attending church when Alyssa around the same age that Audrey is now because Alyssa would just cry and cry if I left her in the nursery. Since we are new to being back in church, I'm starting all over with the same issue with Audrey. I've been working with her for the last few weeks trying to get her used to the nursery without me being in there with her. Basically at our church, you fill out a sticker with your child's name and they get assigned a number. Then you drop them off in the nursery and if they need you for any reason, they'll just post your child's number at the front of the church on the screen right there in front of everyone to see.

Well, I was able to drop her off and I was shocked that they didn't post my number. A good 20 minutes or so passed and I was thinking to myself that it was pretty nice to be able to experience that part of the service without having to be in the nursery the whole time. Well, wouldn't you know it, the next thing I know, I see Audrey's number pop up on the screen and I waited a few seconds, got my things together and headed back to the nursery to see what had happened. When I got there, she had tears coming down her face and sweet lady taking care of the kids told me that she had been doing okay and then another little girl did something minor to set her off and then next thing they knew, she just started crying. The only thing they could do to get her to stop crying was to hold her, but since she couldn't be holding her the whole time, they had to call for me to come. That whole thing didn't surprise me because over the last couple of months I've come to find that Audrey's just a sensitive little person. It doesn't take much to set her off and then she's crying her little heart out. Guess we'll just have to keep trying with the nursery. I'm hoping it will eventually get better because I would love to be able to enjoy all of the church service one day!

When we got home from church, we did the usual stuff...lunch and then nap. We the girls woke up, my Hubby and I took the girls for a ride around the neighborhood in Alyssa's Jeep and then we went to the park. We had also been to the park on Saturday night, so here are couple of pictures from Saturday night.

When we got home from the ride and the park, the girls had a blast playing outside with all of our neighbors' kids. I totally wish I would have taken some pictures because the kids had the best time just playing and hanging out. We even got to watch my niece Natalya while my sister and her hubby went to see Transformers (which they said turned out to be a really good movie)and it was just a good rest of our Sunday.

At the end of the day, my Hubby said to me...See how fun life can be like when you're not on the computer?!?! I guess he was right!

Well, I can't believe it's almost the Fourth of July already. I am so looking forward to it because every year our family gets together at Avila Beach and we spend the entire day there at the beach, just BBQing and having fun. I'm already looking forward to the weekend and it's only Monday. Hope everyone is having a great start to their week!

I am good friend of Tiffany Pifer's and I think you are so amazing how you are always there for her! Thank you so much for the help with the raffle. Your girls are beautiful and I hope ya'll have a fabulous 4th of July!

That seasoning sounds yummy! I will have to get you to send me some one day. :)

That sounds neat about how the church has the number thing. Kaylee is my very sensitive one...it has never taken much to get her upset either, but ironically she seems to be more of a social butterfly than Madison, who is very laid back and nothing bothers her.

I bet when she gets a little older, she'll really like being with the other kids and playing.

I'm glad you had a good weekend. The 4th of July plans sound fun too!

I was looking at your free shipping thing.....I may do that this week at my website. That sounds fun. Ha!

Love ya!! Talk to ya later,
Kristin

Yummy seasoning! I'd love to try it ;) Glad you had some fun family time over the weekend. My hubby had a rest day from biking Sunday afternoon. We took a nap, did some stuff around the house, and went grocery shopping. It's just nice to have the time at home with all three of us.

You know, I didn't get to hear all of the sermon Sunday either, cuz my daughter has a bit of a cold. She was inconsolable without her mommy. She played just fine as long as I was within arms reach. The moment I moved she would reach out to me and whimper. I know the women in the nursery are more than capable of handling a crying baby, but I felt so bad with her being sick. Plus, I know that someday I'll look back and long for the days when all my daughter wants is to be in mommy's arms.

I'm excited for the 4th too. We'll be out of town for another bike race and will hopefully get to see the fireworks display there. I'll miss the annual parade in the small town where my grandparents live, but it'll be fun to spend a little weekend away with my hubby and Sweet Pea. Hope you enjoy your 4th - sounds like fun!

Veronica, I am so glad that you had a good weekend and that it was computer free! ((smile))

I know it can be addicting.

It seems everyone is excited about your giveaway. That's great.

So, you will take a "hat" break for the rest of the summer,....that will give you more family time too, so that will be good.

The seasoning sounds good. I use all of those spices most all the time! Theyt are basics in my kitchen.

I hope Audrey will get used to the nursery so that you can sit in on the sermon. Does your church have windowed, soundproof child training room with a speaker? We do, and that way you can train them to sit in church without disrupting people around you. I haven't ever had little ones in there, but I think people use it often.

Sounds like your weather is nice, and ours is so hot already. I stay inside when it is too awful hot. But last week when I had two of my granddaughters I was at the pool with them when it was 107. Yikes! it really tired me out.

I loved the cute pictures of your girls. You are a good mommy!

Love you,
Linda

Sweet pics! I'm sorry about how difficult it's been for you to go to church. I've been very fortunate with my boys. We just started taking Tyler to the nursery a few weeks ago & he's done great. I didn't realize how much I missed of the sermon when I had one or both kids with me. I will pray that Audrey does better so that you can fully focus on church.

I'll try & chat with you later! I've got to get back to packing! Yuck...

I am having the same issue with my boy and the nursery. I just began attending this new church and am enjoying it but I can't stop from wondering how he is doing while in the nursery because I have been paged already. HA! They do get used to it...my daughter was the same way when I began attending church...now she loves' it!

Your girl's are precious!

I totally hear you on trying to stay away from the computer. It is so hard and I feel like I am missing out on something if I am away too long! Good job Veronica! So glad you are enjoying your church!

The seasoning looks like you could use it in about any recipe....but do share some of your recipes! I love to cook and get bored with the same ol' recipes!

Having the grandkids tomorrow-Thursday while my daughter and son-in-law are in DC. So I will be fixing what they like this week! :)
