Summer 2012 Bucket List

It's Alyssa's last week of school and after tomorrow, we can officially say we've made it through the first grade! Alyssa has learned so much this year and has grown tremendously in her reading and writing skills.  I remember going to her Kinder end-of-the-year Open House last year, touring the first grade rooms and being in awe of how the kids were writing full on paragraphs. The growth in just one year is amazing to me and getting to see Alyssa bloom since this year is awesome! My constant prayer for my girls is that the Lord would make their gifts and talents known to me, so that I can bring out the best in them and I can definitely see that Alyssa has a teacher's heart!

At this year's end of the year open house a couple of weeks ago
Since school's almost out, I've been thinking a lot lately about what kinds of things the girls and I can do to have some fun and make new memories this summer.  The girls are growing and I think this is the first summer in a long time that I don't have a baby! :)  Things are getting lots easier when it comes to getting up and going and it really feels nice. It's a feeling I'm not really used to but one that I'm starting to embrace since we're done in the baby department.

Because the girls are growing, my challenge to myself this summer is to get up and out and much as possible.  I'm looking for ways to be more intentional with our time together instead of the usual hang out in our jammies and watching TV kind of thing.

Since I'm big on schedules and lists, I've been trying to make a list of all the things we can during the break while school's out.  As you can tell, going to the park is one of the things on my list!

My goal is also to find fun things to do that are either free or budget friendly.  Just the other day we busted out the sidewalk chalk and the girls had fun going to town our on the back patio. :)

Last week I stumbled on this cute printable via Joye's Hope for a summer bucket checklist that you can fill in yourself.  Alyssa and I worked on it together over the weekend and this is what we came up with.  I'm excited to check things off our list together and take lots of pictures along the way!

C'mon summer vacation! Only one more day to go! :)

Love the list! You might find some fun things at the library to do also. Ours has a free summer reading program and they bring in fun things for story hour! I'm sure the girls would love it. Have fun.

love the bucket list idea! i agree with the "no baby" thing. it makes it SO much easier to just go, or really do anything without worrying when the baby needs to eat, sleep, etc. praying you're doing well. :)
