I'm nine months and five days older than my hubby and that explains my joke about age. I always get excited when September 17th rolls around, because for three months, the two of us are the same age!
We celebrated his birthday with a little party that was actually a get together to watch the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight and a birthday party combined. My BIL and SIL were nice enough to open up their house (which, truthfully has become party central for most family gatherings over the years) and we blended the two events and had a fun night. For some strange reason, I decided to make a football cake (for a boxing night...weird, I know) and I think it turned out kinda fun.
If you watched the fight too, I'm sure you were just as disappointed as us with the way it went. What a way to lose a fight right before it even really got started, right?
It had been a super long time since I'd drug out the camera to document a family get together, so it was a fun excuse to get back to my old picture taking self. Only problem was, it was night time and I try to avoid using flash at all costs so the quality of the pics wasn't so good. Aside from that, the birthday guy didn't like the only decent pic I got of him ( and me ) so yes, I'm blogging about a birthday guy you won't be seeing pics of. Oh well. Instead, I'll leave you with this one of me and my middle sister, which I really happen to like. The two of us are just 18 months apart and she turned the big 30 back in July!
I love birthdays and I'm not afraid to admit that I can't wait for mine to get here already. Even though I'll be turning 32, you can bet I'll still be telling people I'm 30! ;)

Glad y'all had a good time, even though the fight was a waste (Fred told me all about it).
You and your sis are beautiful! (I miss my sister soooo much! I can't believe it will be three years in Jan. since she went to be with Jesus!) We were always so close, and had so much fun together. I am glad you have sisters to enjoy life with.
Family get-togethers are so much fun. I am glad that you killed two birds with one stone (so-to-speak) and celebrated Fern's 31st, and also watched the fight. Can you believe that Momma Linda likes to watch boxing? I haven't seen any lately, but I used to watch them with my honey.
Your football cake was cute. I bet the birthday boy enjoyed it! (I wish he wasn't camera shy.) (:>) But I kinda just think he is a humble guy who doesn't like to be in the limelight.
