The biggest happening of the week is the fact that I finally decided to buckle down and go on a DIET. I have a horrible track record for starting diets that I never finish, but this week I've been determined to make some MAJOR changes. I did lose all of my pregnancy weight so now the goal is to go back to what I was when I first got married. I've never been skinny, so that's not even what I'm looking to achieve. I just want to be healthy and be able to look in the mirror and like what I see.
What got me started on this whole thing was last week when Kristin and I were talking on the phone about how she was working with Kari to get a health plan that would work to help her feel better. She shared with me what the plan was and I about died when I read the list of all the CAN'T eat foods. Seriously, everything on that list was things I eat on a regular basis! Anyhow...this week I decided to start fresh and eliminate all the bad stuff. My first goal was to stop drinking sodas, which is a HUGE thing for me to do. I LOVE, LOVE my soda but know that I would love to feel better about myself more.
The plan this week is to elimate all of the stuff I usually love to eat like bread, chips, crackers, etc,
and eat lots of fruits, veggies and things with protein. Today is Day three and I already feel like it's making a difference! I'm looking forward to looking and feeling better. The first two days were CRAZY tough considering what a carb addict I am, but I have to keep reminding myself to take each day one at a time and do the best I can do to make good choices about what goes in my mouth. I know I can do this! :)
In other news, I also wanted to share the sweetest gift I received in the mail this week. It's a handmade blanket that Sarah made for Alivia. I love it!
If you are anyone who either crochets or knits, you know that blankets are truly a labor of love. They take lots of time to make and it was just so special that Sarah took the time to make this for our girl.
I think it's safe to say she loves it too!
Thank you so much Sarah!!! :)
Well, I guess I'd better get going for now. I've got a baby girl crying for Mama. She had a fussy night last night and she's been having a hard time napping today too. I'm thinking it's just one of those days, because over the last week, things have gotten SO much better! She's been going to bed somewhere between 8 and 9 p.m. with little or no fussing and sleeps for a good six hour stretch! Hallelujah!!!
P.S. The winner of the snacks and Costco gift card goes to...Sarah from Gives and Takes! When you get the chance Sarah, please email me with your address so I can forward that to MyBlogSpark! Thanks! :)

I am sooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!! I was thinking during dinner (2 hours ago - ha!) that I wondered if you had chosen a winner yet. Saw your post in my google reader and shrieked with joy when I saw my name. I am so stinkin' excited!!!!!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sent you an email with my address. :)
I am the exact same way about food. Ugh. I have 10-15 more baby pounds that I need to lose. I feel like it is so hard to exercise right now when I'm trying to juggle breastfeeding and a baby that just wants to be held. a. lot. The dark choc M&M's in my pantry probably don't help either... I do love my daily Diet Cokes, too. Don't know that I could give that up. I'm proud of you!
Oh my gosh, I had a terrible day at the hospital, and seeing little Liv wrapped in my blanket was exactly what I needed! I'm so glad you like it.
I went four years without soda in college and then Bruce brought it back into my life. It's SO hard to eat/drink healthy when life gets busy and you're just getting by. I'll be cheering you on from the east coast! (And maybe I'll try to cut back too ... )
Oh no the dreaded "D" word. I hate that word. I always do terrible with it. Good luck. The "E" word is pretty difficult to stick to also. "Exercise" Ugh.
So glad that the sleeping has been getting better. Woo hoo.
Wish you the best in your new lifestyle change. No doubt it'll be tough! There's a lot of tempting foods out there but it's great you are feeling better already. I def believe what Kari talks about-about foods making us feel bad. I should try to eat better than I do.
My mind immediately went somewhere else when you said "D" word. I don't think that "D" word is so bad. In fact I am relieved to know that it's not what I was thinking.
You just have to turn it into a "L" word. It's about a LIFESTYLE shift. Eating healthy and moving more will make you feel so good. And feeling good all day is much better than any food can taste momentarily.
I know that you will do great!
Hugs,
Trisha
She is so cute.
I love all that Hair !
I know all about dieting , I try to eat healthy but wintertime is a great time to slip up. I'm working on mine to , now since our weather is warmer and able to be outside.
Such a beautiful blanket and a very precious baby.
Congrats to Sarah !!
Caroline
I just love that blanket....she looks comfy-cozy with it!! :) You're doing great on the diet.....are you trying to make me look bad? Hahahaha!!!!! :D I hope you continue to do well with it and feel much better!!! Can you send some of your willpower over here to TX for me? LOL!
Good job with the 'd' word! I'm horrible with stinking to anything as well. I know you can do it!
That is such a pretty blanket and it looks so soft! She did a great job!
Hope your evening goes well and you get the sleep you need!
The blanket is beautiful. I know she will treasure it some day. So sweet.
Blessings,
Amy
Love love love that blanket!!!!
Good luck on the new eating - I don't drink soda but I remember years ago when I did it was sooo hard to give up!
i've never been good at a diet. ever. but try to just eat better, and in moderation. praying it goes well for you! i know i'll need to get on some sort of 'track' after having this baby. we don't 'plan' on getting pregnant right away, so Lord willing i'll have some time to get back to where i was before i had kids. which is like 65 pounds...from right now. which seems daunting. so i'm going to quit thinking about all of that!!
love the blanket. it's beautiful.
praying you're doing well. :0)
Way to go! You can totally do it! Cutting out the sodas will help tremendously, I'm sure! Drink tons of water, too!!! Keep us posted!!!
Wow! You are a strong woman if you can acheive a diet with a newborn and two other girls to take care of! I can't find time to eat healthy and caffeine is my best friend & I only have ONE baby! lol.
That blanket looks so soft. That's so sweet of her to make that for Alivia!
I don't care for the D word...at all! ;-)
You go, girl...I'm sure that you will accomplish your goals. And, while you're at it, send some prayers my way as I make very necessary dietary changes. I know what I need to do...I just have very poor willpower!
That blanket is BEAUTIFUL! What a sweet gift!
I'm so glad you are working on being healthy. I hate using the "D" word too, so we just talk here about eating healthy and having an active lifestyle. Ted has convinced me to start biking again and has even committed to taking me on tandem bike rides once or twice a week. We went biking as a family this week though and I was SO sore. We'll have to make some adjustments to my bike before the next bike trip...cuz this body of mine is way different after having two kids in two years ;) There's so much more I could say about this, so maybe I'll just have to blog about it soon, cuz it's a subject close to my own heart and something I've been praying about a lot lately. If you have a chance tomorrow, give me a call and we can chat about this some more. I'd love to share some tips I've learned about a healthy lifestyle and to encourage/support each other. I've never been a skinny person either, but I'd love to feel good about who I am and feel good and healthy.
Good luck! I was planning to eat better to get back to my pre-wedding weight, but now I guess I just need to work on eating better. LOL!
I'm so glad you are noticing a difference. I agree with everyone - it needs to be considered a Lifestyle Change instead of a diet. Diets always end somewhere, we want this to become habit and permanent. My hubby lost 20 lbs in 5 weeks (weighed himself a week ago). The biggest change for him was cutting back on Pepsi. It was a daily staple. Now it's just one day a week: Pepsi Friday - haha!
So proud of you! My parents started on Monday of this week and have both lost 4 pounds. It's so fun to hear good results.
Let me know about any questions. I'm hear to support and encourage and help in any way I can!
I could have written this post myself!!! (about the dieting, anyway!)
I lost all of my pregnancy weight and decided it was time to finally lose the extra pounds I've been carrying around for quite some time...I'm on week five of my lifestyle change, and still going strong. I've started and quit so many diets before...but I know this is the real deal:) If you wanna follow along or have some encouragement with your diet, check out my monday weigh in posts!! Good luck! You CAN do this!
